Agriculture

Nowadays, agriculture and vinery are two fields that cannot dispense with modern GIS solutions. Aerial measurements can provide high quality and high resolution imaging that can serve as a basis for harnessing data about a given agricultural land and for information gained through processing this data (such as: soil conditions, the nutrients in the soil, relief, micro-relief, damage from wild life, flood, invasive weeds, inland water, erosion, deflation, etc.). This information cannot be gathered by sensors on agricultural vehicles aerial measurements provide much more detailed and precise information.

In general, we can say that vineyards are very heterogeneous, both from a spatial point of view, and considering the needed management methods. The current maps are out of date and the information they provide is often inaccurate. With the given scale they cannot precisely measure the tiny plots of land used for grape production which indicates the need for an update. The active and passive remote sensing technologies we use can produce raw data (including information on row spacing, their location, the gaps between stems or absence of a row, etc.), which can give very useful information about the location, size and environmental characteristics of the area, and can even give insight into a given parcel.
